Research Cluster of Computing (RCC) has its foundation based on Ideation-Innovation-Incubation-Impact. RCC has been formed to foster research and innovation among students and faculty teams, and applying them for solving fundamental problems in Computing Science and inter-disciplinary areas. The cluster would cultivate a community based on principles of team bonding, socially responsible, technically capable youth that can transform industrial and research based problems into opportunities. The core objectives of the research cluster are:

Projects & Competitions
Cyber security team of Research Cluster of Computing participated in various online jeopardy and attack/Defense type CTF competitions under the alias Kaizoku. By August, 2020, the team is among top 5% global teams and top 4% among Nationwide. Students who participated include Anmol, Deepak and Prince.
Karan Aditya Ghoshal (2K18CSUN01123),Prince Kaliraman (2K19CSUN01026), and Deepak Rana (2K17CSUN01115), CSE 3rd year in CST dept MRU participated in an international competition ‘YASH 2020 organized by the Foundation of Global Science Initiatives (FGSI) and won Silver medal. Their project “Facial Recognition & RFID Lock”, is a solution for the upcoming challenge in Physical Security. It provides an effective protection with the usage of 2 Factor Authentication. Due to it being scalable and easy to manage, this solution is also highly flexible and customisable, meaning that it can be also implemented with existing systems without any problem. The usage of physical hardware and smart software makes it a unique solution.
Event YASH(Youth Activities for Superior Humanity) is organized by FGSI from 16th to 18th January 2020. Prototype for smart locking system won silver medal the team members included Deepak Rana(6D), Prince (4A), Karan Aditya Ghoshal(2C).
This project focuses an emphasis of 2 Factor Authentication, by using an RFID Identification System and a Facial Recognition System, implementing them both at the same time so they coexist together and go hand in hand.
The ways to bypass RFID is easy. You can always duplicate a keycard and you cannot prevent malicious people from exploiting this flaw. Bypassing Facial Recognition, although tough, is entirely possible.
Our project uses RFID as the first method of identification and Facial Recognition as the second method of identification. This project is implemented as a smart door lock and you will not be able to get into a room without passing both methods.

MRU Team and impact wins the first position at ‘HackRcdu’ Hackathon, Research Cluster of Computing Team +impact of B.Tech CSE students of Manav Rachna University, comprising of Parikshit Sharma, Ravi Prakash, Shivam Shukla, Shiv Kumar, participated in ‘HackRcdu’, a Hackathon held at Ramanujan College, University of Delhi and bagged the First Position in the same. They were awarded a cash Prize of 8000/- and goodies. Their project #VACCIBLOCK was made with the vision that critical transportation and storage of vaccines should be easy and tamper-proof so that one can detect the efficacy of vaccines before it gets decomposed, through IoT. Judges acknowledged and appreciated their project a lot.
Team Error=404 of B Tech. Computer Science & Engineering, Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, is the proud winner of SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2020 under Software Category. They represented MRU on problem statement of Ministry of Rural Development “MK206” (Non network intensive record keeping system for Self Help Group) virtually in online mode at Chandigarh University Nodal Centre, during the Grand Finale of Fourth Software edition (Online platform) of Smart India Hackathon- 2020, held on 1st to 3rd August 2020. Team Error=404 won the prize money INR 1,00,000.
SIH is the world\’s biggest Open Innovation Model organized at various nodal centers across India simultaneously by the Ministry of HRD and with assistance and observation of AICTE, AWS, Intel, Cisco, i4c and Persistent. It\’s a 36 hrs continuous programming competition and an initiative to provide students with a common platform to solve some pressing problems stated by various Indian Ministry departments and top industries of the nation. This year, the SIH-2020 event had 50 lakh+ student applicants from 6000+ institutions including IISc, IITs, NITs and other AICTE/UGC approved nationwide institutions, who competed creatively to solve problems and offer technical solutions.
Manav Rachna University congratulates the Team Error=404 comprising of BTech CSE 7th Sem students – Rishabh Dhiman, Mrinmoy Mitra, Aayush Singh, Deepak Bhardwaj, Vishakha Tyagi , and Aman Gupta, along with their mentors Prof Anu Priya Sharma and Prof Ankur Kumar Aggarwal.
Sharda Technovation hackathon 2.0
Technovation hackathon 2.0 was organized by GNIDA(Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority)in collaboration with Sharda University.“Apostles”, a team of 4 students from MRU took part and secured 2nd position for the project hi-Jacket.
Hi-Jacket, a product that helps regulate the body temperature of the wearer and provideswith advanced features such as:
- Hi-Jacket provides the ability to regulate the body temperature of the wearer
- it also optionally equipped with features such as gas sensor and/or particulatematter sensor to detect airborne dangers around the wearer.
- snap-in additionalbattery-pack for extended use or performance when required.
- Bypass ports forpower or connectivity as per customer requirement.
- security features such aslocation tracking, SOS signal, live notifications, etc.Available via local display orapp.
- The technology can also be integrated into pre-existing PPE-suits as perrequirements wherever possible.
IOT challenge 2020
IOT challenge 2020 was organized by i3indya technologies in collaboration with AAkaar Bombay, a team of 3 students from MRU was selected among the three team to clear the prelims round.
Cybersecurity competition (Competition): An online global cybersecurity competition was hosted by Redpwn CTF team from 22 June to 26 June, 2020. The sponsors of this competition are: Trial of bits, Digital Ocean, HackerOne, Google Cloud. “2012 reboot”, a team of 4 students from MRU took part and secured 91st place in the college division, 454th place across all teams with 2217 total points. The team included: Prince Kaliraman, Deepak Rana, Anmol Bose and Parikshit Sharma.
Samarth Helpline (National helpline for Elders):
A team of MRU students under the mentorship of Dr. Parneeta Dhaliwal, Associate Professor, MRU are working as part of the core team for a National Initiative- Samarth Helpline for Elderly against Covid19. The helpline is supported by Hindustan Times, SBI, Coca Cola India and Unilever as a social initiative with Samarth Eldercare. It has already helped 1500 cases so far in 40+ cities across India. The student Team includes : Ashwani , Saksham, Harshita, Animesh, Riya, Pranav, Aarzoo Kapoor and Siya Sharma.
B. Tech CST students: Sourabh Chhabra and Vaibhav Bhatia, developed the digital content: Website and Video, for in Youth Activities for Superior Humanity – YASH 2020, organized by Foundation for Global Science Initiatives (FGSI) from 16-18th Jan., 2020.
A competitive programming Codechef Campus Chapter has been established at Manav Rachna University in association with the Research Cluster of Computing, Manav Rachna University. The campus chapter would be run by Hackers_Creed Club, managed by Divyam (2K17CSUN01120, MRU),Vaibhav Vashist( 2K17CSUN01169, MRU) and Yogesh Kumar (2K17CSUN01154, MRU) under the mentorship of Dr. Parneeta Dhaliwal. As a campus chapter, we will work towards improving the culture of competitive programming in our campus and organize various events, workshops and contests from time to time. It will enhance problem solving skills and also boost the students to write cleaner and better code. The first 2 hr Online Competitive programming contest under Codechef Campus Chapter was hosted at Manav Rachna University, Faridabad on 14th February, 2020 by Hackers_Creed in association with Research Cluster of Computing, MRU. The contest was conducted using Codechef platform, by Divyam and Vaibhav, BTech CSE 3rd Year students, under the mentorship of Dr. Parneeta Dhaliwal. Good number of students participated in the contest.
Yogesh Dixit, Deepak Bhardwaj, Hitesh Sood, Aman Gupta, CSE 3rd year students, participated in ‘HackRcdu’, a Hackathon held at Ramanujan College, University of Delhi, and developed a Payment app, for payment by group members for any group activity. They got judges appreciation for projects.
In Feb., 2020 Bhavya Satija , student of 4th year CST after multiple rounds was selected to represent Delhi for Marvel Super Wars Tournament by Utopia Club, Delhi sponsored By Asus, to play in Indian Gaming Expo, Mumbai. However, the event got cancelled due to Covid-19. In March 2020, Bhavya Satija ,student of 4th year CST started his own Gaming Tournament Organizing Company by the name KS gaming http://ksgaming.ultimatefreehost.in/.
Achievements 2019-20
Smart India Hackathon: Team XCODERS won MHRD’s SMART INDIA HACKATHON 2019 under Software Edition Category on problem statement of MSME at LPU nodal center, during the Grand Finale of third edition (Software) of Smart India Hackathon- 2019, held on March 2 and March 3, 2019. It is the world biggest Open Innovation Model organized at 48 nodal centers across the country simultaneously by Ministry of HRD and with assistance and observation of AICTE, MIC MSME, i4c and Persistent.
De1CTF CTF 2019 : Team De1ta: Mr. Deepak Rana, Mr. Prince Kaliraman, Mr. Lakshya and Mr. Anmol, scored 182nd position out of 1000 International participants at the De1CTF CTF 2019 (48 Hrs) Jeopardy-style Online Capture the Flag Competition. The online game is opened to all participants around the world.
YEAR 2020-21
Team PurAire – 2nd runner up Health Science and Allied Subject Category
The Zonal Level of Anveshan 2020 was organized at Amity University Gurugram where more than 50 teams participated among 5 categories. Team PurAire: Ashish Chaudhary, Balbeer Singh, and Nilansh Khurana, B.Tech. CSE students of Manav Rachna University under the guidance of Dr. Parneeta participated in the Health Science and allied Subject Category where they competed with 15 other teams from different colleges and different Disciplines of North Zone and bagged 3rd position in Health and Science category and got selected for Nationals of Anveshan 2020.
2. Computer Science & Technology Department, Manav Rachna University congratulates Team – PSYCRYPTERS working under the guidance of RCC (Research Cluster of Computing) for grabbing the opportunity to compete in Smart India Hackathon (SIH) Finals.
SIH has been launched by the Union Human Resource Development Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar, in collaboration with #CISCO, #MyGov, and #NASSCOM to harness the creativity and expertise of students. It is 36 hours non – stop digital product development competition during which teams of technology students build innovative digital solutions for the problems posted by different central government ministries/departments and industries.

3.Mukul Singh, Parul Taneja, Ridhi Sethi, Deepak Rana, and Abhishek Pandey (B.Tech CST 4th Semester,RCC,MRU), won 2nd Prize in 24hrs HACKATHON “TECHNOVATION” under the theme – “Security & Surveillance”, amongst 151 teams across the state.
The team presented the solution – P-BAND (#PollutionBand), to detect pollution along with security tool kit. P-BAND is a wearable, portable and cost efficient device to detect air quality index with a mobile application connected to server and website to track one\’s location. It can also be used as a security tool kit for girls and children.
All the team members won INR 20,000 and also got certificate from Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority in association with Sharda University.
4. Facial Recognition and RFID Lock Project | Silver Medal | YASH 2020
B.Tech CSE students of Manav Rachna University: Karan Aditya Ghoshal, Prince Kaliraman and Deepak Rana, won Silver Medal in Youth Activities for Superior Humanity – YASH 2020, organized by Foundation for Global Science Initiatives (FGSI).
They competed against 40 teams of the Engineering and Technology category in the Masters age-group.

5. Blissboard Project | Silver Medal | Yash 2020
Students of B.Tech CSE Manav Rachna University: Mukul Singh and Parul Taneja, participated in an international competition ‘YASH 2020 organized by the Foundation of Global Science Initiatives (FGSI) and won ‘Silver Medal’ in the category of master age group.
Their product Blissboard provides an External Keyboard for Visually impaired peoples. BlissBoard has been implemented in such a way that any person can type using Braille Script (language). It helps visually impaired people to connect with Social Life and access various features of their phone manually and by voice too.
6.Team Apostles – Second Prize | 24hrs HACKATHON TECHNOVATION @Sharda University
The students of B.Tech. Computer Science & Technology, under RCC Manav Rachna University Deepak Rana, Lizel Mehta, Prince Kaliraman and Karan Aditya Ghoshal, won 2nd prize in 24hrs HACKATHON TECHNOVATION at Sharda University. They won the prize under the theme – “Security and Surveillance”, amongst 238 teams across the country.
The team presented the solution i.e. Hi Jack-et, to detect pollution along with security tool kit. Hi Jack-et consists of a wearable Jacket, a smartphone application and a web app. It tells the concentration of Particular Matter around you and about the harmful gases concentration present near you. Not only this, Hi Jack-et is also having the feature of temperature adjustability i.e. heating and cooling effect according to the user wish.
There are charging and aux bypass to charge on the go so there is more mobility and you can charge it on the go. There is snapin extra battery module. It can track one’s location and can also be used as a security toolkit for girls and children.
Team won prize money of INR 20,000 and also got certificate from Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority in association with Sharda University.
2018 RCC AchievementsAndroid Development Team:
Completed first Swachh Green Faridabad App for Faridabad Industries Association. This app connects Faridabad people for marathon. This app is to be uploaded on FIA’s official website. A team of contributors comprising of FCA students Mr. Chandan Kumar and Mr. Karan Chandra has developed the system under supervision of Dr. Jay Bhatnagar. They have also trained 20 to 30 interested students from FET, MRU and FCA on App Development process.Web Development Team:
Completed Web Development & Android App for Umeed NGO, New Delhi, under MoU with Umeed Organization. A team of contributors comprising of FCA & FET students Ms. Somaya Dwivedi, Ms. Nikita Popply, Mr. Sachin Kamat & Mr. Rishab Bisht has developed the system under supervision of Dr. Jay Bhatnagar.
